Litchfield Driver Faces Charges in Andover Drunk Driving Accident

Anthony Argabrite, 27, of Litchfield has been charged with driving drunk, operating to endanger, causing an accident that resulted in injury, and speeding following a Tuesday night collision on I-93 North in Andover. The Eagle Tribune reported today that Argabrite was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on 93 near the Dascomb Road exit just before 11:30 p.m. that night when he collided into the back of a vehicle driven by Ronald Cannon, 41, of Pelham, NH. Cannon was slowing his vehicle down because he had been approaching the scene of an accident on the highway from earlier. Two other vehicles were also involved in the crash.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Cannon remained in critical condition with a head injury at a Boston hospital. Argabrite and Samuel Newbrough of Nashua, NH, Argabrite’s passenger, both sustained injuries that were considered minor. The drivers of the two others vehicle involved in the serious collision, Kailash Bhol of Tewksbury and Michael Hopkins, 44, of Lowell, were uninjured.

Authorities shut down the northbound and southbound lanes of 93 temporarily in order for the helicopter to transport Cannon to the Boston hospital and for the police investigation.

The first accident involved Samantha Scham of Lawrence, Lanny DiBartolomeo of Lawrence, and Saeed Abbas of Manchester, NH, who all sustained injuries in the accident and required hospitalization. It is unclear at this time how the earlier collision happened. Officials continue to investigate both accidents.

3 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on I-93 in Dorchester

Anna Missakiane, 26, of Lynn was allegedly driving the wrong way on the Southeast Expressway in Dorchester early yesterday morning, causing a multi-vehicle crash. Three people were seriously injured in the 1:05 a.m. accident, State Police said.

Although she has not been formally charged, Missakiane faces two counts of drunken driving resulting in serious injury and two counts of negligent operation for allegedly driving drunk and causing the accident.

How the Accident Happened

The multiple vehicle crash happened between Exits 11 and 12 when Missakiane’s vehicle, a 2011 Dodge Avenger, which was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, collided with a 2007 Honda Pilot being operated by Faith Jorge, 33, of Taunton.

Two other vehicles in the fourth travel lane crashed only moments later: a 2001 Mercedes ML320, operated by Toljan Mico, 20, of Quincy, and a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Patrick Ford, 36, of Pembroke.

Ford, Jorge and Missakiane suffered serious injuries in the crash. Jorge and Missakiane were taken to Boston Medical Center, while Ford was taken to the New England Medical Center in Boston.

The crash remains under investigation.

It appears that alcohol was the underlying cause for this early morning wrong-way crash. Missakiane faces drunken driving charges in connection to this accident, including:

State Trooper Dies from Injuries Caused by Drunk Teen Driver

Ellen Engelhardt, 58 and a former Massachusetts State Trooper, passed away this week at a South Shore rehabilitation center from serious brain injuries she had suffered 8 years ago after being hit while on duty on Route 25 in Wareham by a teenaged drunk driver.

William Senne was 18-years-old when he collided into Engelhardt’s parked state police cruiser on Route 25 at 100 mph on July 26, 2003, forcing the cruiser forward at about 50 miles per hour. Engelhardt had her cruiser’s lights flashing as she investigated a hit-and-run collision on the highway when Senne, who was driving back from a party in Wayland, crashed into the cruiser.

The Boston Globe reports that Engelhardt is the first female Massachusetts State Trooper to pass away from injuries suffered while on duty. State police officials are looking into additional criminal charges against Senne, which could include vehicular homicide at this point. Senne entered a guilty plea back in 2005 to drunken driving charges resulting from the serious accident and was then sentenced to 2 ½ years in jail. Prosecutors at the time were asking that Senne serve 8-10 years.

Following the tragic crash, Engelhardt underwent treatment at a Boston hospital before being moved to a rehabilitation center in Chicago for further treatment of her severe brain injuries. From Chicago, she was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Middleborough, where she passed away.

Amesbury Woman Charged in Fatal DUI Crash

Nicole Parziale, 39, of Amesbury has been charged in an alleged drunk driving crash that claimed the life of one of her passengers, 55-year-old Glenn Robichaud of Bedford. The Boston Globe reports that the fatal crash took place this past Saturday night around 10:30pm on the northbound side of I-95 in Burlington, in the area of Exit 32.

Parziale is reported to have swerved her Pontiac Grand Am across the highway and ended up in front of a car operated by 20-year-old Kayla Trenholm of Hope Valley, Rhode Island. Trenholm reportedly then crashed with the side of Parziale’s car and both vehicles lost control and crashed.

Trenholm and her passenger, 19-year-old David Torrey of Shannock, Rhode Island, were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. Parziale, Robichaud, and a second passenger, Denis Splaine, 53, were rushed to another local hospital for treatment. It was announced later that Robichaud died while at the hospital from his serious injuries.

Authorities charged Parziale with negligent operation of her vehicle, operating under the influence of liquor, and also for a suspended license. Parziale reportedly has been convicted for drunken driving before. She was arraigned on the charges yesterday in Woburn District Court. Police have stated that they could be charging Parziale with motor vehicle homicide as well for Robichaud’s death.
