Boston Cop Struck by Car

Like an endless stream of car incidents involving police officers, here comes the latest news of a Boston police officer getting struck by a car at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Harrison Avenue yesterday.

The officer, who was not named in the article, was directing traffic at a construction detail at the intersection.

He was struck around 8:00 a.m. by a car attempting to take a left turn from harrison Ave onto Massachusetts Ave. The police officer blew his whistle to warn the car to stop, but it continued forward, knocking the officer to the ground.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment.

The driver said he did not see the officer in front of him, even though he wore his bright green fluorescent vest.

He has been charged with civil infractions of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
