Woman Killed in 4-Car Crash on Route 2

A Gardner woman has died as a result of a 4-car accident just after 2 pm yesterday on Route 2 west by Spring Street in Lexington.

Shannon Gwiazda, 33, was traveling on Route 2 east when her 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser veered into the westbound lanes, hitting a 2008 Cadillac CTS driven by Harvard resident Gina Ashe, 47, Concord Patch reported.

Gwiazda's cruiser then struck a 2009 Kia, driven by Theresa Lamoureaux, 51, of Maynard, before hitting a fourth car, a 1999 Ford pickup truck driven by Mark Saffie, 52, of Methuen.

Gwiazda was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the drivers, Ashe and Lamoureaux, sustained serious injuries, and were transported to Lahey Clinic in Burlington. The fourth driver, Saffie was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
