Senior Driver Charged in Fatal Westport Crash

A 77-year-old Dartmouth woman, Alice Pfeninger, will be charged in connection with the Tuesday car accident which claimed the life of Lillian Bono, 86, New Bedford.

The fatal auto accident happened near 681 Old County Road in Westport, MA and involved 2 cars, a Subaru and a Volvo, which collided head on.

Westford police and firefighters responded to the crash and used a mechanical device to extricate the victims from their vehicles.

Herald News reports that Bono died at Charlton memorial Hospital in Fall River.

Police found that Pfeninger's Subaru headed east on Old County Road came into the path of Bono’s Volvo going in the opposite direction.

There were no skid marks on the road.
