Teen Driver Hits Girl Crossing Andover Street for Bus

This past Monday morning, 17-year-old driver Melanie Nesteruk struck an unidentified 14-year-old girl who was crossing Andover Street in Andover to catch her 7:15am school bus. Nesteruk reportedly did not clear the frost off of her minivan’s windshield and this is what officials say is what led to her hitting the girl, who is listed in fair condition at a Boston area hospital. She had initially been listed in serious condition following the accident.

Nesteruk was given citations by Andover police for passing a school bus with flashing lights and for impeded operation of the vehicle. She allegedly told police that she did not see the school bus, the flashing lights, or the girl who was crossing the street towards the bus.
