Woman Struck by Truck on I-495

Karen Youngblood, 47, of Lowell suffered serious injuries Thursday afternoon around 2:30pm when she was hit by a pickup truck while trying to change one of her tires in the breakdown lane near Exit 47 in Methuen on 495 South.  The Eagle Tribune reported today that Youngblood remains in a Boston hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

Mike Belisle, 29, of North Andover was identified as the operator of the Ford pickup that struck Youngblood on the side of the highway.  Belisle was reportedly going to a landscaping job with his co-worker when a vehicle in front of him in the right travel lane slammed on the brakes, which resulted in Belisle doing the same and striking Youngblood with his truck.  Belisle reportedly cooperated with Massachusetts State Police at the scene of the accident.  The investigation is continuing into the exact cause of how Youngblood was struck.
