Somerville Man Struck, Killed in Boston Tunnel

David Dang, 75, of Somerville was struck and killed by a passing vehicle Friday morning in the Tip O’Neill Tunnel in Boston after exchanging paperwork with another driver following a minor accident.

What Happened

The Boston Globe reported that Dang and another unnamed driver were involved in a fender-bender just after 8:00 a.m. that morning near Exit 20 on I-93. Dang got out of his Honda Pilot after pulling over onto a narrow shoulder in the tunnel and exchanged information with the other driver.

Dang walked back to his vehicle and was then struck by a passing Toyota RAV4 driven by an unidentified 64-year-old Ayer man. Emergency workers rushed Dang to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver involved in the fender-bender with Dang left the scene before State Police arrived to the scene of the deadly crash.
