Andover Head-On Crash Caused by Alcohol

A Lynn man was seriously injured in a head-on car/van collision on Route 114 last weekend. Police believe the Friday night crash occurred due to drunk driving.

According to the authorities, the Lynn driver, Donald Morales Lopez was traveling in his Toyota on Route 114 west when he veered into oncoming traffic near the Middleton line around 10 pm on Friday.

Morales Lopez  lost control and his Toyota collided with a van driven by Marek Torlinski, 32, of Peabody.

Both men suffered injuries - Morales Lopez even got seriously injured. Both Torlinski and Morales Lopez were taken to Lawrence General Hospital, and were later released.

Morales Lopez was wearing a seat belt, police said.

While the accident remains under investigation, police said they believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor. It is not yet sure if speed was also a factor in the crash, or if any charges will be filed.
