1 Person Injured by Traffic Pole in Brookline

One person was injured when a traffic pole landed on him in a bizarre traffic accident in Brookline on Wednesday.

The accident happened when a truck hit the traffic pole at Harvard Street and School Street, causing it to crash down, hitting Richard Malley who was nearby.

Malley, who witnessed the truck crashing into the pole, went to help the truck driver. He said, “Came upon it and figured I’d give them a hand, but it came back to bite me.”

WHDH reported that according to Malley, the truck driver was making a right turn when he hit the pole. Malley took his bike and went up on the side walk to tell him to stop so he wouldn’t rip it down.

Malley works as both a crossing guard and parking officer in Brookline, and was in between jobs when he saw the truck in trouble.

But just as he was going to help when the pole come down and hit his helmet and then his shoulder.

Malley was rushed to the hospital where he was treated and released.

There is no word on whether the driver of the truck will face charges or citations.
