Bourne Man Injured in Marion Crash on I-195

An unnamed 32-year-old man from Bourne sustained severe injuries in a single vehicle crash in Marion on I-195 Monday afternoon. The unidentified driver was going east on 195 when his Subaru station wagon rolled over on the highway, went onto the median, and collided with a tree.

Officials reported that he was then taken by helicopter to a Boston area hospital for treatment of his serious injuries. His condition at the hospital is unknown. The highway was shut down for an hour, with cars idling back to the Mattapoisett line. The crash continues to be under investigation by police.

Nearly 30% of deadly crashes in Massachusetts in 2009 involved light trucks (SUVS, minivans, wagons), which accounted for 136 of those accidents. Crashes where vehicles rolled over involved 28 light trucks and 27 passenger cars.
