Worcester Man Drives Wrong Way on Mass Pike, Crashes with UPS Driver

Daniel Murphy, 43, of Worcester was severely injured early Sunday morning in a crash on the Mass Pike in Westborough when he drove the wrong way on the highway and collided with a UPS tractor trailer, driven by Christopher Hanson, 39, of Bridgewater. According to The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Murphy was driving his Acura west in the eastbound lanes of the highway when it struck the UPS driver head-on around 3:30am yesterday morning. Murphy was rushed to an area hospital for treatment and as of yesterday afternoon, he was listed in fair condition. Hanson sustained minor injuries in the serious accident.

Hanson reported that crash to state police, who are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Police have not filed any charges against Murphy at this time.
