Boston Police Looking for Hit-And-Run Driver

An unidentified 23-year-old woman was struck and critically injured by a hit-and-run driver early this past Saturday morning around 3:00am in Roxbury and Boston Police are actively searching for the driver who is responsible for the accident. The Boston Herald reports that surveillance video has been released and shows what appears to be a grey or silver Chevy Impala with a spoiler on the back-end.

The hit-and-run accident occurred at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Shirley Street. The unnamed woman was transported to an area hospital where it was reported that she was in critical condition. Authorities have reported that the car they are looking for will have front-end damage on the passenger side and damage to the side mirror as well.

Hit-and-Run Statistics
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that approximately 10% of all car accidents every year in the U.S. are hit-and-run accidents.

A driver may leave the scene of a crash if his or her vehicle is not insured or registered or the driver may flee the scene due to being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
