Eulalio Rosario, 79, Struck and Killed by Car in Lawrence

Eulalio Rosario, 79, of Lawrence, was killed when he was struck by a car Thursday morning on High Street in Lawrence near Pleasant Street.

The elderly man had left his house where he lived with his daughter, Maria Polanco, to walk to the Lawrence Senior Center for the day at about 8:00am when he was hit by a Chrysler Pacifica driven by Madeline Delgado, 27, who is also from Lawrence.  Polanco witnessed the fatal accident from inside her home and rushed outside when she realized it was her father who had been hit.

No charges have been brought against Delgado at the moment, who reportedly told police that Rosario seemed to come out of nowhere onto the street and she could not stop in time.  Officials are continuing to investigate what caused the tragic accident.

The impact of the accident forcefully sent Rosario about 10 feet up in the air before landing on the road.  Rosario’s shoes were found in the street, along with some other personal items of his. 

He was taken to an area hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Rosario was initially reported to be 56-years-old.
