Unidentified Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Minivan in Lawrence

An unknown 56-year-old man was hit by a minivan this morning at about 8:30am in Lawrence on High Street, near Pleasant Street.  He was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.

According to authorities involved, the man had stepped out onto High Street in between cars and was consequently struck by the minivan, which was heading east.  The driver who struck the pedestrian has also not been identified.  It was reported that she is cooperating with the investigation by Lawrence police. 

Officials are now investigating the scene and trying to uncover what led up to the fatal accident.
