Car Falls Off Route 93 in Somerville, Woburn Teenager Dead

Christopher Ward, 19, of Woburn died in an early Saturday morning crash this weekend when he lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, and fell about 40 feet off of Route 93 before landing on the Route 28 ramp in Somerville.

Officials are reporting that Ward’s car struck another vehicle, a pickup truck, being driven by Lawrence Capriotti, Jr., 31, of Somerville either immediately before Ward’s vehicle landed on the ramp or shortly after.  Capriotti had fled the scene of the deadly crash but later went back to speak with police at the scene.  He now faces a charge of leaving the scene of a crash.

Emergency workers transported ward to a Boston area hospital, but he was pronounced dead some time later.
