Police Identify Man Hit, Killed by Commuter Train

Lucas W. Pierce, 34, listed as homeless, has been named by police as the man who was hit and killed by an MBTA train around 7:30pm Wednesday night in Gloucester, as reported by The Salem News today.  Pierce was homeless, with previous addresses listed in both Gloucester and Salem.  Police involved with the case continue to investigate the tragic accident and are reporting that Pierce had been on the train tracks as the MBTA train approached where he was.  The operator of the commuter train sounded the horn and instantly put the train’s brakes on when Pierce was seen on the track, but Pierce reportedly did not respond. Police have not reported yet how they intend to classify the death.
