1 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-93

Cisar Bargas-Lopez, 24, of Chelsea faces charges for driving drunk when she crashed into an ambulance on I-93 North in Wilmington Sunday night around 9:30pm. The ambulance was on the scene of a multi-car crash that had just happened on the highway prior to Bargas-Lopez colliding with the ambulance.

Police and the ambulance were called to the multi-car crash involving 6 cars just before 9:00pm, where one of the passengers was trapped inside one of the vehicles. Officials were assisting the victims of the pile-up when Bargas-Lopez drove her Dodge Caravan into the Tewksbury ambulance that had been parked in the breakdown lane of the highway. Bargas-Lopez did not sustain any injuries in the collision and no one else was injured in the second crash.

Bargas-Lopez faces numerous charges including drunk driving, having an open container of alcohol in the Caravan, not having a license, and other lanes violations. Authorities may be bringing additional charges against Bargas-Lopez, who was set to be arraigned in Woburn District Court yesterday.
