Man Hit By MBTA Train at Wollaston Station

What Happened
An unidentified man died Monday afternoon when he was struck by a Red Line train at Wollaston Station in Quincy just before 5:00pm. The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) canceled service on the Red Line heading in both directions while the scene was investigated and eventually cleared. Bus shuttles were set up for passengers running between the Quincy Center and North Quincy stations. Authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic death.

MBTA Accident Statistics
According to the Federal Railroad Administration Office of Safety Analysis, there have been 35 reported MBTA accidents or incidents that occurred from January to March of this year. During those first months of the year, there were 2 reported fatalities stemming from an MBTA accident or incident.
