2 Killed in I-93 Accident
Michael Joyce, 29, of Stoneham and Karina O’Donnell, 23, of Merrimac were killed in a collision last Friday night on I-93 North in Salem, NH.
Officials reported that Joyce was driving his 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck on 93 when the truck veered off of the highway and crashed into a tree near a rest area exit.
The Boston Globe reported that the deadly crash took place just before midnight. Authorities investigating the accident are asking drivers who may have seen the accident to call them. Speeding has been cited as a possible factor in the accident, though this has not been confirmed yet.
Pedestrian Hit, Killed in Peabody
Maria Assuncao, 63, of Peabody died yesterday morning after she was struck near the intersection of Main and Washington Streets in Peabody by a Ford pickup truck operated by Mark Ouellette, 47, of Salem.
The Salem News reports that Assuncao was reportedly crossing Main Street just before 6:30am when she was hit by the truck heading west on Main Street. Police have not yet determined if Assuncao was in a crosswalk at the time of the fatal accident and are continuing to investigate what exactly happened.
Following the accident, Assuncao was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries a short time later. No charges have been filed against Ouellette as police continue their investigation.
