Ayer Woman Dies in Route 2A Head-On Collision

According to The Lowell Sun, a 67-year-old Ayer woman was killed yesterday morning in a head-on collision with a box truck on Route 2A in Ayer. The unidentified woman was driving a Toyota Prius. The 21-year-old driver of the truck is from Tewksbury but has also not been identified yet. The operator of the truck was reportedly injured in the crash and was hospitalized after the collision, which took place in the area of Wilson Road around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The woman died at the scene of the accident, according to authorities. Police have reported that the truck driver was traveling westbound on Route 2A when the truck went over the middle line and crashed into the Prius in the oncoming lane of traffic. Part of Route 2A was shut down for nearly 6 hours while officials conducted their investigation into the deadly accident.
